Media Literacy
Video #1: What is media literacy?
An important point from this video was that people need to realize that there can be major implications when someone is controlling the news or media. Another important point from this video is they use two trends to create a challenge where they try to promote or encourage the first point and belittle the second. Being someone that uses multiple different media platforms on a daily basis, I always thought that it was pretty basic but after watching this video, I discovered that it is extremely complicated. This makes me more cautious now to look into things to see if what they said they're doing is what they are actually trying to do.
Video #2: Media Literacy-Education and Choice
Some points that stood out in this video were to be aware of the techniques used to grasp viewers attentions because they are not always good and, that not all viewpoints will be said in a topic so as a reader, you have to be aware you are not getting the full story. Another important point is that the point of giving messages on the media is either to gain power or profit. Being able to find the main message in every post is very important which I find I do regularly so this would help me be more cautious with media. It's concerning that not all viewpoints are said so we don't really know how accurate the information given will be.
